Main Objectives

Objectives of the Institute are enlisted below:

  • The Institute is committed to play an effective role in the all-round development of the rural areas of Jharkhand through training, capacity building, research, consultancy and through the collection of data and feedback to assist policy makers in the formulation and review of policy.
  • To improve the knowledge, skill and attitudes of officials based on an in-depth understanding of the problems of rural poor.
  • To implement, monitor and evaluate the Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Programmes.
  • To increase participation of people in GRAM SABHAS for effective implementation of PRI system. 
  • To maximize Women / Youth participation in development process by increasing the awareness level through effective training. 
  • To familiarize and apprise the participants like PRIs and BNVs with the basics of Computers and to impart them necessary skills to work.
  • To acquaint participants about impact of Disasters on Lives, Property, Ecology and Environment and to act accordingly for rescue measures.
  • To generate awareness among the women participants on issues related to laws for Child & Women protection and combating atrocity.  
  • To encourage the habit of reporting, writing and effective documentation among the field officers/faculty.
  • To identify and bring together experts in various fields connected with rural development and Panchayati Raj to organize discussions (workshop) and produce relevant publications.
  • To bring intervention of Scientific Methodologies in farming/cropping system.
  • To bring financial stability among farmers through sustainable livelihood generation.
  • To move farm practices from productive farming to profitable farming.
  • Apart from the above, NIRD (Hyderabad), IIM Ranchi, Tata Steel Long Product, TISS (Mumbai) conducts their off-campus programmes in the Institute for the capacity building of their officers/beneficiaries of Jharkhand.
  • To conduct off-campus training programmes in District Headquarters and Block Headquarters to minimize the difficulties of communication by PRIs, SHGs and BNVs.
